Ever have the pc you are using go down for some reason, a power outage or windows update? Here is what you need to get your twgs to start automatically if that happens. 1. Set the Power options in your Bios to Turn on in case of a power outage. This setting will vary but not by much, look at the bios power options. 2. Download and install the newest TwealkUI Powertoy from Microsoft What makes this actually work is the TweakUI "Auto Login" Option. I must stress that you use the newest version from MS. The reason this is safe is that in the newest version of TweakUI, they encrypt the password. Previous versions stored the password in the clear so anyone with access to your registry could see your windows login passwerd. Not any more and because it encrypts your windows password its safe and secure to use this automated method. 3. Put the TWGS.exe short-cut into the All Users\Start Menu\Startup folder (this can be found in the "C:\Douments and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Startup" If you use TWGS as a service, then you need to make a batch file with the following line: twgsserv start Then put the batch file or the short-cut to the batch file in the Startup folder. My batch file looks like this: Code: @echo off C: CD \TW2002\TWGS <-- this path will change depending on your installation twgsserv start CD \ Helix wrote: Update for WIndows Vista and Windows 7 Users only Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tweak_UI Versions of Tweak UI for Windows XP work on Windows Vista and Windows 7, including 64-bit, if run as administrator and Compatibility Mode set to Windows XP SP2/SP3 (for 32-bit Windows 7/Vista) or Windows Server 2003 SP1 (for 64-bit Windows 7/Vista) using Application Compatibility Toolkit for Windows 7/Vista. That's helpful information. Is it the same if we're running WinServer2003? I know it's basically WinXP. And what about running TWGS as a service? I haven't messed with either of those, power outages are rare unless there's an outage that lasts days.... I'm one of the lucky ones. I've not lost power in the recent storms. |
