Is it possible to run Tradewars on Worldgroup? And if so what version would be needed and is there a tutorial anywhere?

WorldGroup is an old BBS format that the MBBS version of TW2002 made by High Velocity Software works on...yes u can setup worldgroup bbs for a twgs the latest version of TWGS software should be fine....i dont know of any tutorials but you should be able to set it up just like a door game.you can also use a rlogin from the bbs..anyone have anymore information on this??

Uh, I know the guy who developed the MBBS version, Mike Donnelly. I could get word to him about any questions.

Take Care,

Dennis

Yes, you'll need the door version of TW. TWGS won't work. Although you could route the telnet connection thru the BBS but it's hard to limit time and access that way.

thats incorrect D,,,,You can configure the twgs to allow Rlogin connections and treat it as a Door game all on its own...seen it....been there done that ...got the tshirt.....most people would say going thru the bbs makes the twgs connection slower.....but i havent tested it in years....Navez Chaiwind and his "Duct_Tape...

You can run TWGS np with worldgroup as a frontend. Worldgroups built in rlogin/telnet outbound will connect to the twgs server or run twgs on Gameserv (http://www.gamserv.ca).
You can limit online time and account classes (varying time and access levels)
very easily in worldgroup. ie have sysop, gameop, normal users, demo etc, each haveing thier own time limits per call and per day max.
You can run WG, TWGS, gamserv all on one computer with varying port #'s or 2-3 lan cards and a quality router capable of redirecting traffiic.

You can still register worldgroup (much less expensive than in the 90's).
Contact Questman at http://www.elwynor.com
For Worldgroup support goto http://www.themajorbbs.com
Unfortunatly you can not currently register High Velociity Software's TW2002.

Many Worldgroup BBS are also linked for interbbs chat with WorldLink chat, another great place for worldgroup help.

It's really amazing how fast the old MBBS HVS TW is on today's processors with today's broadband connections.

I've been having fun playing there and actually snapped a cap file of this old fellow. You don't see him in TWGS quite exactly as he was then.

Sector : 20 in uncharted space
Ports : Decalin Annex, Class 1 (BBS)
Ferrengi: Overlord Kvir Rylach, with 50,000 ftrs,
in Venom (Ferrengi Scorpion)

Brings back a lot of memories playing on Worldgroups again. While in the game you see notices of people logging on and off the system. You see notices of telnet connections opening etc.
