How often does TWGS check for IP changes? Anyone know? |

It checks when you start the software, but I don't think it does again till you restart. |

If the modem loses connectivity and then restores itself, sometimes my IP will change. TWGS will still be running with the wrong IP then. If it restores immediately it will remain the same, but if it delays it is possible for it to not get the same IP. Bad part is, Verizon doesnt' really offer static IP's, and sometimes there are interupts in dsl over phone lines. |

You could probably code something to detect a change in IP then restart the TWGS server if you had to. I doubt that'd be tough. One of the things I like about cable tho is that IPs are usually tied to MAC address. I use a custom MAC in my router and it keeps the IP address set, but if I need to change my IP I can change the MAC, go thru the addy re-registration process and blamo... good to go. |
