Use TheDraw for your ansi editor to create your main menu.

You can add ansi description to your ships. You need to create a folder called ASNI and put the files in there. Have some one send you a sample file you can modify.

I know about that, and I did just that, however, the game still had the default description and Image... It didnt use the custom description until I removed the image.

Also google PabloDraw, it is a good ansi editor as well, I use it on my site. it is windows based and not dos based. And easy to use as it is powerful.

Sweet will do, I am not sure yet, however I am assuming it is because I am still using the older ANSI files, so I will go ahead and make my own and see how it works from there...

The Basic black and white opening screen, (splash screen).
When you add a game to TWGS they are added here automatically.

Ok, under the Config, Settings window at the "Startup Menu" and "Description Menu"
uncheck the Default boxes and change the name of each ANSI file to the names you
chose to use for your new ANSI file replacements, (you can use the same name if
you wish just copy over the orginial files.)

The ANSI files are kept in:
"C:\Program Files\Epic Interactive Strategy\TWGS".
You will first want to make new files before doing this using an ANSI editor,
I assume you are already familiar with those, if not do a google search
(for: "editing ANSI", "The Draw", or "PabloDraw") and you will easly find a
site to download one of these programs, which is not to difficult to learn to use.

Startup Menu: This is the menu that should list the actual games and takes you into
the game when that game letter is pressed.

Description Menu: This menu should list the games as well, as it allows them to
enter the game number to view a description of it. These two menus can be identical
in appereance or you can change them to look like whatever you want.
They are basically the same, though both are required to work properly.

Under the Games window you can enter a description of each game and you can also
create a more detailed text or ANSI file for each game description to be viewed,
using the "Extended Info" option.

You can also post an announcement. If a file called ANNOUNCE.TXT exists in the
game data directory, it will be displayed after the intro ANSI.
Use this file for any game-specific announcements.
You can have an announcement for each game letter.
So when a player presses the game letter, they will see whatever you put in
there before they can continue.

ok to do this create a txt file and call it game name and put it in DescFile
folder then you go to config and u can select that file for each game.

Hope this helps have a great day.

Ok, on ships option page 5 or 6 .. the last one .. says active .. and the file it will read , so just make the ansi folder in the game # directory and move most of the ansi files from the twgs root ansi .. mod the planets and ships and when you archive (TWA) it later , besure the check mark them too to save it completely.

and send me a copy .. heheeh

Most of us leave the description menus as a text file cause of the amount of games some of us host.

I am working on ansi description files for all of my games now, very time consuming tho.
