I am coming back to TW after a long abscence. I am going to be hosting a game for some friends. I've got TWGS up and running and don't have any problems, except that I can't seem to get the configuration for the remote command menu working properly.

Whenever I try to "disable logins" etc. I get a message that this "Requires global gameop access."

Anyone know off hand how to configure this? It isn't a big hassle right now, as my server is just down stairs, but it is always nice to be able to do things remotely.

Cheers,

Vaclav

Okay do you have access to the main setup for the TWGS? if so you have to setup the sysop on the TWGS.

To do this go to command center, then click options tab, set the name for the sysop and then check the game op box. If you have any passwords for the account, make sure you try them to make sure they work, I usually use the rdp program, to have access to the TWGS proper. I have an online server and my TWGS is there. and the rdp program lets me use it as if I am there physically.

But sometimes I need to access the TWGS thru telnet, to run some scripts to set things for the sysop side of things.

I have already done this, and I am able to do almost everything, including TEDIT via telnet. I am even able to perform most of the commands on the Remote Command menu, but receive this error when I attempt to halt the game in any way, including logins, stopping the server, rebooting, etc. Although, if I stop the server, I suppose that my telnet session would cease.

Well, like I said, it is a somewhat minor issue, since I can walk downstairs.  I'm just lazy. I won't use these commands much. I will look into setting up the rdp, but would prefer to keep things simple.

I've also seen a few posts here about a web interface that allows a remote rebang? Does anyone have a link to that information?

Thanks,

Vaclav

actually rdp is more simple than the telnet is to use, it is like you are at the computer itself and have full access and full control of the TWGS, telnet is good when you have scripts to script in the tedit stuff, that is the only time I use the telnet for admin. I use some scripts to run the tedit stuff I need to. For all else, I use the RDP.
