I have received an e-mail from one of our players stating they ran into a possible issue with a game. It appears they ended up in a sector and could not move, and there was nothing in the sector save a fig. The following is a snip of the sector(s) involved and the issue:

Here is a D-scan from adj....
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sector 3291 ==> 3,322 Warps : 2 NavHaz : 0% Anom : Yes
Sector 8831 ==> 145 Warps : 2 NavHaz : 0% Anom : No

Here is a holo scan from adj....

Sector : 8831 in uncharted space.
Ports : Thor's War Hammer, Class 3 (SBB)
Fighters: 1 (belong to your Corp) [Defensive]

And here is a scan from with in the sec....

Command [TL=00:00:00]:[8831] (?=Help)? :
<Re-Display>

Sector : 8831 in uncharted space.
Ports : Thor's War Hammer, Class 3 (SBB)
Fighters: 1 (belong to your Corp) [Defensive]
Warps to Sector(s) : 2540 - 14616

Command [TL=00:00:00]:[8831] (?=Help)? : M
<Move>
An Interdictor Generator in this sector holds you fast!

Sector : 8831 in uncharted space.
Ports : Thor's War Hammer, Class 3 (SBB)
Fighters: 1 (belong to your Corp) [Defensive]
Warps to Sector(s) : 2540 - 14616

--------------

So it appears this player was being held, yet there is nothing in the sector. Is it a possible error with that particular game? Has any other SysOp encountered this?

Perhaps they're hidden on the port?

if they're on a port it won't hold them in sector.
my only guess would be that he has some sort of messages turned off, and a dude in an IG warped in from adj and pinged off the fig?
need more information

That uunfortunately is all the info I had. I checked the sector and it just had the 1 fig, and nothing else. So far have not heard from the player, but I was curious more if anyone had encountered this before. I did the usual check of the twmail.dat file, etc, and all is fine.

I agree with the idea that comms were off, then when turned on they got the message, but I was not too sure. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate the group here and all the help that is given.

No, the msgs were on, My corpie was the only other person online. The enemy corp are all *SD* so it wasn't one of them, and we have our planets adj so it wasn't a new player.... It was an enemy sector that we had finished capping all the planets. We moved all the planets out after getting the IG msgs, we tried several times moving planets in/out different ships I even torped my corpie to make sure it wasn't his IG or some other fluke....

Notice the 145 density reading with only a port and a fig showing on the sector and holo scan?

My corpie and I had theorized that maby the last "enemy" player had been on one of the planets in that sec and when he got deleted the otherday maby not all traces were deleted by the server????

I just tried it and still get same msg and i'm the only one online....
Thanks for your help....

Now that is an interesting theory, and a possible bug.

Well here's a thought. Either the player reached the 30 days and was deleted, or was flagged as a dupe and the TWGS ScoreKeeper removed them. Something I will have to look at with the ScoreKeeper. I only coded it to remove the player, not any planets, etc. I had assumed they go rogue unless that player has members on his/her team.

In any event I am keeping an eye on it PH, and appreciate your info on it.

If the guy was on the port and lifted and relanded it would hold you, but obviously that isn't happening here. Definately sounds like a bug where the sector didn't get updated correctly. Have the sysop go in and look at the sector, then look at the player records for the game. See if there's anything out of the ordinary... like maybe one of the dead/deleted players is still set as being in that sector?

Thanks Sing. I did just that. There was a def fig from a player that was removed or deleted from the game, so I removed that fig. They are going to let me know if that helped.

Ok I need to have a Miller... heh heh heh

The team in question are all #sd#, not deleted. They had a def fig in the sector that apparantly was causing the phantom IG. I removed the fig, but not the players. There was a def fig in the adjacent sector too, so I removed that too. Everything else looks fine, even checked for any corrupt data or bloated twmail.dat file. The other team were notified and they will let me know what happened...

Even if they're #SD# check to see if there's a sector number in their player record. Not supposed to happen, obviously, but neither is a phantom IG.

One of the players was deleted.
The rest are #SD#. I blew the port in the sector, and the same thing is happening.

Checked and nothing.. The last sector # in their records are not the sector that is containing the phantom IG.

Has anyone tried photoning the sector to see if it disables the IG? (Try photon move in/move out

Have they tried exit/reenter game?
Reason why: TWGS would have to go through a checklist Im guessing.
IG: Yes/No. If Yes than do ' You dont get to move' If No ' Move away!'
Im guessing TWGS would need to check to see if an IG is in sector. It would see that there wasnt one, and continue on as normal.
