bugs been around forever...

I check the twmail files avery few days. If I find that the twmail.dat file is over a meg, I schedule a shutdown of the server, delete the file and restart the server. This has always worked for me though I have heard on some occasions people having to reinstall. This is the only solution I have heard of that works. If anyone else has better ones I would love to hear them.

You are most correct. Is a common bug. Although I set mine to shutdown and delete the file once it reaches 10 megs. You can have that much info from figs, and depends on Alien races in that game. Anything over that is when the file bloats. It also can cause problems in the game, cause players to time out, etc.

So over 10 megs is close to the cut-off point? I know I have seen people talking about this problem for a long time now. It makes it hard to keep the server running on its own (either crashing or having to delete files to keep it running) for any extended period of time without shutting it down on busy games.

as long as I am not alone in my pain... LOL

Yes, I set mine for about 10 megs. Also, I set up a scheduled task in the TWGS to shut down, then I have another task close the program and delete any twmail.dat files that are excessive. The backup runs, then the TWGS restarts. It works real good for me in the last year now. It does get to be a pain having to stop the server when it's active, but we work around that.

So yes, you have company on this ride...[:D]
