I was wondering if I could get some help in setting up TW2002 on Synchronet? I have read topics, and set them both up (I believe properly). When I log into Synchronet, and run the door, the screen flashes, but nothing happens. There are no errors. It appears to start, but for some reason TW2002 is not loading. Any help would be greately appreciated.

With all due respect Padre pelota (una?), suggest either a helpful suggestion or no post would be an appropriate reply.

You probably have a setting wrong - it sounds to me like the drop file either isn't going where TW2002 thinks it should, but I will admit that I'm guessing. Which version of TW2002 are you trying to setup, and which version of Syncrhonet are you using?

I moved the Topic to the proper place, being it was requested.

Thanks Vulcan! I think there will be more helpful suggestions here for the Synchronet problem.... Toadville was using that as a BBS door before they went offline as well... Poison might have some tips also as he was helping out there as well as at Frogland a few years back..might be wrong again of course! [?]

The command line parameter in Synchronet would be TW2002 TWNODE=%#

Make sure that you have all your paths CORRECT in SCFG (the Synchronet Configuration program), and that you are running version 3 or higher of TW 2002, as it has fossil driver support...REQUIRED for a telnet BBS. However, if you are running just dial-up, you can run version 2 of TW 2002, with all its programs...as it was NOT designed with fossil driver support.

Speaking of Toadville, I prolly still have Todds (Toad) Email, if interested in contacting him on how he had his bbs setup. I may contact him and see if he will be resurecting Toadville.

I remember playing a many games there, when I was active years back, Thats where I ran into a player named Magic and relearned to be a killer again, all because she thought I was a dupe, long story, laff, now the trend starts over

I was assuming something might have been wrong.. I have checked different sites and found the settings "Appear to be correct" but I am human. I got LORD to work fine. I am running the latest version of both synchronet and TradeWars 2002. The path to the file appears correct, but I will play with it a little and change some directory names.

Have you tried the win32 and the dpmi versions both? Would it matter?

Alteria- I am presently setting up a Synch board as well. If you want, feel free to email me at CCBBS_TWGS@hotmail.com and we can team troubleshoot.

Also try this Email, it is to Todd, aka Toad, from Toadville bbs.
tperciva@charter.net

He may be able to help you also, he has run a synchronet bbs for a long time.

I hope this helps all.

Ah ha... everything was correct, even the path. I guess you are not able to name it anything other than tw2002 for some reason. Once I changed the path in synchronet to the directory tw2002 and changed the directory name on my computer, it worked fine.... Thanks for everyones help. Would be nice to have some more people playing other than me and a couple friends. If you feel bored, please come in, free and no time limits.

I don't think one is needed, as its connecting to the BBS, not the TW game itself. I went right to that telnet address, and connected fine.
