I've been running a BBS for over 13 years, and have had a registered copy of Trade Wars 2002 on the BBS since its inception...in fact, it was one of the first doors when the BBS started in 1992. Anyway, after upgrading to version 3 of the game, I installed the Gold version, and had obtained an upgrade to the add-on Trade Wars Services, originally done by Tri-Write Development. Trade Wars Services allowed many extra functions for better management of ones empire. But, the file for v.3 of TW Services, SERVEWB8.ZIP was lost in a major hardware crash on my system several years back. Google searches on this have only come up with FIDOnet messages that I've posted, and the Tri-Write Development authors/websites are apparently long gone. The only change that I could tell from TW Services for v.3 of TW 2002 versus TW services for v.2 of TW 2002 was the updated player data fields...but the source code may be long gone as well. I can write a batchfile, but my programming ends at my VCR. If any Sysop has the file SERVEWB8.ZIP on their BBS...or can provide a link to it, I would greatly appreciate getting in contact with them. I'm in the current FIDOnet nodelist. Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

According to the latest dial-up and telnet BBS list, less than 70 dial-up and around 450 telnet BBS's remain in the U.S. and Canada. Anyway, the telnet address is wx1der.dyndns.org or dial-up to (501) 223-2541. The TW game I have right now, is going to be reset Jan. 1, to create a very high port density, at the request of traders. If I could locate that SERVEWB8.ZIP file, the reset would not be necessary. For more info on my BBS, go to http://www.wx1der.com/bbs.htm |

The filename is SERVEWB8.ZIP -- it's Trade Wars Services, for version 3 of Trade Wars 2002. It was originally done by Tri-Write Development (Ernest G. Evert, John C. Tabler, and Fred Riley). Some of the things you could do with it (within a batch file to load after TW2002 exits, or as a separate BBS door) are: 1) Buy and sell turns (up to 1000 a day) 2) Search for enemy traders 3) Get federation or ferrengi paychecks 4) Move colonists and products between planets 5) Rename and move planets 6) Get extra fighters, shields, and holds 7) Clear mines and navigational hazards If the Sysop registered TW Services for version 2 of TW, the key was good for version 3 of TW...and the Sysop could modify the values. But, I doubt one can register it anymore. |

Lots of web sites host the old BBS Doors files: http://winramturbo.com/pbi/sysopres/software.htm Maybe one of them has it or knows where to get it? |

Unfortunately, while that is a nice page, a lot of the links are either dead, or no longer BBS related. [:(] |

Sorry, I cannot check every page. I had hoped that at least one of those links went to a place that had the file. |
