Ok I saw about a million [ok maybe just a few hundred thousand(ok like 20)] posts about people losing reg codes and asking about addons. I thought that since I have decided to get back into tradewars I thought I would address some of these issues. 1: I lost my reg codes over 2 years ago. I sent an email to jpritch@eisonline.com on saturday. Monday morning I had my codes again (you are the man Jon) I included my purchase info with it although I don't know if it was needed. I just cut and pasted my paypal record. 2: I have yet to see any tool or addon for twgs. BUT you do have the ability to edit just about everything with Gold enabled. Ships, aliens, planet types much much more. 3: From what I have seen it IS possible to import new aliens, chips, planet types from other games using the import/export feature. That said, I will probably release a game file that has all of my custom stuff in it if it ever gets big enough. I know back in the day I had at least 20 startrek races including the federation (not the 3 buttheads who patrol the fed sectors but an entire new race. I was able to create new games imprt the settings from the first and then kill/create what I liked. (oh to have that data file now) As far as other things Iwould like to know if anyone has managed to create more stardocks or mod any of the other little things in the game. I would also be interested in anything anyone has managed to do to MOD the stardock itself. Admitedly I have not researched this enough. And, I know for a fact there are some old school ansi artists out there hiding. If I find one of you I WILL strap you to a chair and make you ansi up my custom ships. Also, Jon I would like a job. Not a paying one but if you see this I would like a chance to create some more content for the game. TW is about as close as I'm gonna get the the old school days of the bbs when spam was a big ansi graphic some nob would post on a bbs and porn was an ascii graphic that had me squinting to figure out if I was looking at a boob or an eyeball. At any rate I will check this topic once in a while and answer whatever questions I can. God I remember when I was giddy about tw2002v2b8 If this is posted in the wrong section please move it and forgive thx.[:P] |

quote:Originally posted by watcher001 I would also be interested in anything anyone has managed to do to MOD the stardock itself. Admitedly I have not researched this enough. When it comes to edits, Vader is the man to see. He has made more edits that are playable than anyone else. You probably know, just making an edit doesn't mean that it is playable. It needs to be balanced to eliminate draws for one thing. If you are looking for tips on how modern TW edits are made, he is the one to contact. Nowdays, the games are divided into blue edits where the settings favor the goods and the red edits where the settings favor the reds, and some edits where the planet fig production is set to 1:1. That would be colonizing edits. And then there are edits that have aliens. Mostly we don't play with them nowdays since we found a lot of bugs in using them. As for Stardock modding, I've never heard nor seen any edits that have a different dock except for ones with edited ships of course. But the hardware is the same as are all the other areas of dock. Only the Cimema views the movies so fast that I can't get what the films are about anymore.quote: And, I know for a fact there are some old school ansi artists out there hiding. So there is one for Windows that you can do. Might try to google it. Someone else will have to answer about the artist though. I don't know of any that has made custom ship edits that is currently editing TW games. quote:God I remember when I was giddy about tw2002v2b8 Version 2...Hmmm. I remember v3 well. Gary skipped v4 and went directly to v5 since it took so long to come out. Version 5 had no bugs unlike the previous versions but since it took so long to come out I remember that not many sysops got the reg. Their registration of previous versions was SUPPOSED to be a one-time payment for ALL versions until the Martins decided that v5 should have its own registration. Needless to say, it wasn't popular. So, it was after that version that JP took over. But V2? I might know it better by what bug it used. I played them all including Trade Wars 200. But don't remember the specific version except by the bugs they had......Thinking about it though, it might have been the one with the ship holds bug in it. There was also one with the bank bug that I wrote a Telemate script to exploit that feature for but don't remember the version. All version's bugs are listed at the EIS website somewhere, just busy with other things to check right now. |

Well as for ansi well I still use the draw in my mind it still is the best one out there. if you run it in compatibility mode and tell it 256 coler it is still full screen now that is 31337 |

Yep Akor it was me who told you about the ansi editors, TheDraw is one of the ones I use and I use PabloDraw, for most of my ansi's I use PabloDraw, it is windows based and is easy to use, but when I want to use the animation features, I use TheDraw. I have a question for someone to answer, Is there a way to use all of TheDraws features without regging it, its kinda hard to reg it since it isn't supported anymore. Here is the website for PabloDraw: http://pablo.etoxn.ca/PabloDraw.aspx |

"the draw" OR ACID DRAW acid draw is my favoriate, because more colors, designs, characters blah blah blah are availiable, but with a standard mouse and very little talent, the draw will do in a fix |
