I am experimenting with trying to get TWGS to run on a VPS using IPower, I finally got access to the admin setup menu today and found out that it is Linux and FreeBSD 4.8 based, I have been messing with the settings for a few hours and figured out how to upload files though when I attempted to extract it, I ran out of luck and the online docs are crummy (apparently you have to run searches to bring up the section you want, but this does not do one much good when they do not know the commands in the first place, LOL.) I also tried messing with the shell commands, but these appear to use something other then DOS commands, (I could not find any way to display what these shell commands were.) Is there a way around this? I was thinking maybe BartPE or is this type of setup a total impossiblity? I have no experience with setting up a server (I can't even get it go come online throught the internet), so I am out of my league. [B)][B)] Any assistance would be appreciated. |

Is anybody familiar with Windows Server 2003 ASP.net? I found this as another hosting service option and was wondering if it offered any additional benefits as opposed to a standard hosting service. |

Linux is a completely different OS. A windows-based server would be easier to get twgs working on but standard hosting packages typically don't include a running process (or much of one), especially not something like twgs. That is something you will need to ask about. |

Does that mean TWGS can work in a Linux environment? Is there an adapter/converter utility program for this or possibly a way to adapt and run TWGS through FTP or Telnet, while on the VPS? |

Believe me...I have no clue about advice to give you about Linux adaptations. A couple years back the developers of SWATH kept telling us they were working on a Linux version of their program and some of us are still waiting and dreaming. Seems way back that someone else was working on a Linux shell for game...hmmm...Colonel Sanders maybe? You might want to get in contact with both of them and see what they have to say. I am TOTALLY supportive of anyone who can chip even a tiny corner away from Windoze.... |

Might consider trying Wine (http://www.winehq.org) if you're wanting to run TWGS/Swath or whatnot in Linux. It's far from a perfect solution at the moment, but it's improving and you might get lucky (it currently runs plenty of games and office software). DC. |

Wow DC, that is kewl! I knew there had to be something like this out there, hehe... now I just got to figure out how to make the linux and FreeBSD work, this will be fun. [|)] I will prob end up crashing the entire server, now that would be smashing good fun, LOL! [:P] |
