Just taking a blind stab at it, I would guess that there's some sort of corruption related to the ports constructing, but I really don't know.

Makes sense, is there something I can do to clean that up somehow?

You could try deleting all ports that are currently building. Not sure if that will help. I'm kind of taking shots in the dark here :P A rebang would fix it, but I doubt you really want to do that :)

Well, I didn't want to do that - but I did do that (after checking with the players first, of course, it's much easier to do that thanks to these fora!). Still, it would be great to know what needs to be done in the future should it happen again - I sent the .TWA to JP so he might take a look at it.

Please xport the game, zip it (or rar, or tar, or bzip2, or whatever your favorite compression method is), and email it to kemper3 at roguesrattery dot com I'll see if I can figure out what is going on and fix it for you.

Vid Kid (03:21 PM) : ICQ reply :
I'de like to look at edit .. but it was stock ..
so I figure nothing could be wrong unless someone was in TEDIT
while game/alien server running or (remote tedit) ..
Also you can see if a game data is currupt at SD
just .. port trade .. if any products are < 3k @ 100%
then its been tedited or currupt. Stock big bang puts SD @ 3k BBB.
<plug> But vid's portfixer (sysop twx script) will set it to almost anything</plug>

Seriousely .. the Start Day=01/01/12 means its pre-3.13 and has to be banged fresh (clock was off big time)
and currupted any ports trying to upgrade if extern ran before the date was fixed.

just my guess .. time sync :(
Re-Bang will re-set if you watch out for whatever your running ..that keeps resetting your clock.

The game looks pretty seriously messed up to me. I worked with it some last night and wasn't able to make any progress.

Ok on the time sync theory, I have additional information that seems topical.

When my computer is powered back on after a power failure (or after a normal shutdown and re-start, except those aren't as frequent as the power failures), the clock resets back to Jan 1, 2000 or something. This gets fixed automatically eventually when connection to internet is established, and the clock sync tool sync's up the PC clock to the atomic clock. Why is my PC clock resetting to Jan 1, 2000 after a power failure? Probably a dead battery in there somewhere, I assume.

So could this be contributing to the issue I am having? I know that TWGS starts up before the time zync occurs, 'cause some players have reported "You will have to wait 276 days to get back into the game" following a power failure. That message only lasts until the clock on the PC has re-sync'd to the atomic clock, but perhaps that interval is long enough to cause corruption of the game such that it results in what I have been experiencing?

For what it's worth, since owning TWGS, I have not ever used TEDIT for anything other than a re-bang, or to verify that settings were as I have posted them here.

It sounds like your bios battery on the motherboard of your computer is dead, most of them are easily replaceable, they just pop out, others are soldered in and unless you have plenty of experience in electronics soldering I would take it to a computer shop to have it done.
