I run TradeWars 2002 on my BBS and I am trying to figure out how to get the scores from TradeWars 2002 so I can put them up for users to view without entering the game. I didn't know if this was possible, but if it is not, it would be really nice if future versions supported this feature.

With the TWGS, you can view the high scores for each game at the game entry menu. Instead of hitting T to play, you press H to view them.

I THINK what he is asking for, Harley, is a was to edit the H (or alter it by EIS) to reflect the differing formulas sysops make to REALLY decide who has the best score, since the H at present would not list players with 0 exp (the smurfs who are running collies) but may be teamed with others who are listed higher. Perhaps, mebby, dunno... I think he is trying to replace that H data to show a TEAM score, not just individuals.

also, you can use the gfiles to have the game extract it to a file, and then integrate that file into what/where you want scores to be displayed... if that is what you are asking for...

Sep, yes exactly :) I want to generate a simple ANS scorelisting (what you see when you press H in the game) to display on a login screen and on the web (via an ANSI to HTML converter that I use for the other games). How exactly do I extract stuff like that to a file? (In TradeWars 2002, not TWGS)?

Thanks for the help, guys!

In the editor for that game, option H, select Gfile Score Directory. I use this on my TradeWars. You enter the directory with the trailing backslash to where you want the file. Then when players hit the scores or go to corp menu and display the corps by rank, it creates a TWplayer.txt file, and a twcorp.txt file. I then have the files ftp'd to the webserver. Nothing fancy, but at least they can view the scores.

Try my death reporter script out for size. I'd appreciate any feedback on it.. needs more testing to make sure any bugs/death situations are covered.

Works real good on my end. No problems at all. Page looks nice too. Well done. So can it be altered to also show the scores? Like when we press C,L,V for computer, list, value? That would be real smooth.

Otherwise, good script. My users will like that on the site.

That would be great. Then I can eliminate adding the text file I have created in the html document. Otherwise, it's great. Mind if we add your site to our links page?

My compliments to your script. You can view it in action here at our site:

http://www.outpost-4.net/tradewars/TWGS ... cores.html

I added the "Close Window" feature, and have it automated so it logs into all our games and runs the script.

Adding Aliens will be really cool. I tip my hat at you ;)
