This might have been posted earlier but a search of posts back to last year didn't reveal any that I saw so I'll ask. When one has Gold Races active in their games and want specific ships to be assigned to specific races i.e.: Klingon Bird of Prey to the Klingon race, would ship setting be simply specific or alien, specific?
In my games I have 3 good races and 3 (including Ferrengi) evil. Ferrengi have their own ships by default and I want the other 2, in this case Hirogen and Klingon, to use only their own ships that I've made up. However, when the game started and the aliens came in, I noticed that even though I set the Hirogen ships and Klingon ships to be for those races, they started out in the stock ships. When I looked in TEdit and checked the setting, I noticed that ships were alien, specific. What am I doing wrong?

Go into the Alien editor and set Ship Deployment
Screen 4 Option C to Exclude General Ships.

Be sure it does not say:
<C> Ships General,Alien, Specific
If it does you have General Ships on. Press C and the A to Exclude General Ships. This will change ships to:
<C> Ships Alien, Specific
No only the specific Alien ships will be available. Press U
<U> Sample available ships
to check on what ships are available to the alien race.
Have fun [:D]

Hmmmm. I must be doing something wrong then. I went into the race editor and the ships do in fact state alien, specific. I typed U and no ships are available.

Go to your ship editor and call up the ship class that you want the aliens to use. Go to edit option 5 miscellaneous. Option C is "Deploy Method" you want to set that to Alien. Then Use option D to choose which race you want to use that ship. the game editor says that if you want the ship to be useable to a player after he captures it set "functional" to yes, otherwise, set it to "no." Editor says The player won't be able to use the ship, just sell it off. THIS DOES NOT WORK, and the editor appears to be WRONG in this aspect!
When you are alien deploying a ship and you set the functional to "no" the aliens don't appear to have access to it either. I set mine to functional "no" and the aliens wouldn't activate at all because they had no ships! Caution, if you want this ship to be deployed to the aliens whenever you rebang, without going to the editor and activating it, make sure "unique" is set to no. I learned that the hard way. Unique is for "manual" deployment of a one of a kind ship (one that there is only one of in the whole universe).
Next, decide when you want these aliens to have this particular ship. Write down the Class types of the ship (they are in grey lettering in the middle of your ship editor screen for example Cargo IV, Scout II etc). Now, go back to your alien race editor, option 4. You can set this ship's class to be available in a certain number of days using the options H through T.
That should about cover it.

I have found that If you set a ship to unique, it ungrays the "Available" (H) option. If a ship is has unique, available, and active all set to yse, and an alien species has that ship available to them, the first alien that spawns after that ship class opens up (the Cargo III, Combat IV, ... stuff) will spawn with that ship. When that happens, It flips the available tag to "No". Note: none of those options are editable while a server is running.
The 3 things you need to check to have aliens spawn with their ships only (as far as i can tell):
1) ships need to be set to alien deployment and that specific species (OR you may set them to manual deployment)
2) the alien species needs to be set to use racial ships (OR if you decided on manual, set to specific ships, then the specific ship needs to be added [from that aliens edit window 4>E>I>...]}
3) the aliens access to the ship lvl is accessable. This is really were you can set when they get what ships (and remember they will always be in the best ship they can have). Also, those number are in game age, not the species age (if they spawned after bang).

Warning. "Unique" is designed for a one of a kind ship and the editor tells you that there should only be one of these ships in the universe. Also, every time you rebang you'll have to activate the ship again if it's set at unique.

I think the problem you may be having is that you aren't making these ship classes (of the ships you created) available to the aliens anytime. In "resources" page of the alien editor, you need to make sure that if the alien ship is a class IV cargo for example, that that class is available "anytime." When you set it this way there will be an asterisk in that category. Also, make sure the ship itself isn't set for "fed" only or "corp" only because the aliens won't get one then!
It's got to be something as simple as this.
