Revision .61 has been released and the following has been completed:

bug
fix
exsisting feature change
new feature

In revision 60, index lock errors were still being reported.
Fix: Further changes have been made to the message index synchronizing method to resolve these locked index errors.
None
New: None.

This is just a quick fix revision to fix the index locking issues reported with .60, this revision has gone through pre-testing and should be stable.

Not sure if this has been covered, my apologies if it has and this is something trivial. But anyway, I've got a strange problem. Revision 60 and now 61 (fresh upgrade) both seem to do this. Basically I can open up TWGS (sever is offline at that point) and then without starting the server I immediately close TWGS and get one of those annoying "This program has performed an illegal action blah blah" errors.

The strange thing is that if I open TWGS, start the server and then immediately shut it back down THEN quit, I don't get the error. It only happens if I open and then close TWGS straight away without ever starting the server.

Here's the details, for whatever that's worth;

"WGS caused an invalid page fault in
module TWGS.EXE at 0167:0040a49d.

Any ideas why this would happen? I've only just noticed it, and besides this everything works just fine from what I can tell and I've had no other problems whatsoever. Is there an obvious file corruption that might case this? Has anyone else had this problem? Again it persisted after upgrading from rev. 60 to 61, if that means anything.

I'd appreciate any insights.

The same thing has happened since at least 55, if you dont actually start the server and close TWGS it will give an error.

Oh really? Well okay then, that certainly alleviates some fears I had about data corruption. So I take it there's no ill effects from this and it's just something I can dismiss as an annoyance? Honestly I have no problem with it, I just thought maybe something was seriously wrong or that I'd trashed a file somehow.

Thanks for the heads up.

Huh, never had that problem. I always have mine start up when I start the program. I'll pass it along to JP for something else to look at if the instability is fixed.

So by that last post am I to infer that I'm the first person to actually report this bug on the forum if it's been around for that long? Wow. Do I get a prize? [:D]

Thanks again for the info!

Take your right hand, put it over you left shoulder, move it up and down :P Really, thanks for letting us know. The prize for reporting bugs is they'll probably get fixed :)

I posted this in the .60 posting but no one responded! Same thing still happening.

I did a fresh install to version .60 not an upgrade and it seems people are getting dropped to the main game menu where you choose a game. This is only happening when they are chatting in fedcom. I had it happen to me several times. I am not sure what exactly is being typed when it happens. Anyone else notice this?

Goose - the problems you are describing have been happening in the past several versions. This is what we are trying to fix. It hasn't just been a problem while on fedcom, though.

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer. I experienced it on fedcom, but others have said it's happening often.

Upgraded to .61, it's still happening to people at least 3-4 times a day while using there 1500 turns.

Is it just upgraded games or fresh bangs under .61?

Post subject:

It's an upgraded game that was originally installed in .60.

BUG REPORT, on Alien Base, ver 61, have experienced RANDOM DROPS, some times effecting more then one player per game. Just today, moving only 25k ore I was droped 3 times.

Using TWX move script, which has never given me a problem.
