Just wanted to get the word out that revision 56 is finally ready. Because of the amount of time I have been away from TW, this one definitely needs some beta time before it goes live on any serious games. Until it's been tested some, don't install it on any game you're not willing to lose. Just a warning
Anyone who's helping beta test, stop by the beta forum and post your comments there. You can also feel free to email me.
The revision can be found at http://www.eisonline.com/twgs/beta
Thanks!

I like the global Delete Mail option, if it does what I think it will.
Darn, you fixed the truncating fighter problem.. I was in a game last night where I was trying to take Ferrengal.. when I first looked, it had 600k+ figs. After attacking some aliends in adjacent sectors, I looked again and it was down to 50k. w00t! heh

just out of curiosity i was wondering if there was going to be or if there is even a way to make some of the global commands ex ship delay game dependent instead of globaly...Like my unlims i would love to have no ship delay however turn games i think need a little delay

First question, I am working now on both JumpGate for TWv3 and on an entirely new engine that I intend to use either for a port of v3 (making it more stable and handle many more users) or to write a new version, v4.
Second question, the change of several options from global to local was a victim of the long interval between releases. I started and got stalled on .56 five times, and one of those times included a number of new things like moving these global settings to local, and several new game delays for combat, planet moving, transports, etc, to try to balance the game in the face of heavy scripting.
I will go back now and try to integrate some of these things into a new revision. But in general, I am going to try to limit the changes I make to this version and keep the major changes for TWv4.

Is it possible to upgrade existing games or do they require a bigbang after update?

You can just plug the new version in and go. But keep in mind that changes in this version will change the gameplay somewhat, so make sure you don't blindside your players.
Also, go into the Command Center and use the Archive command to back up your games. That way, if you run into problems, you can revert back to .55 and continue with your games from there.

Great work, sounds like a winner. I cannot wait to play 56 some time and see what the differences are. Chris Romp will install it on his System78 server, which currently is the only server I play on now due to time restraints. Go Chris!

Ok, for some reason, one of my computers refuses to show it no matter what. I deleted the temp internet folder and cookies, and still nothing. I am going to download it on another comptuer and just copy it from the network drive... I don't know what the problem would be...

Ok, I figured it out. My cache that I use thru my Internet Provider was the problem. I had to turn it off and it finally showed up... Sorry about the hassle.
