In One of my games, thru 2 different bangs of this game. I have had players that have started to loose game messages. Such as: Player warping into sector: Planet materializing! Planet leaving. player warping out. ss and fed messages seem to be fine. This is corrected if the player disconnects from the werver then reconnects!. I have insured that the player is not aborting his messages or turning them off. (his cn is in order) Any suggestions? MP |

Could be a time sync issue. If two players' in game times are out of sync with each other, one won't be able to see anything the other one does. Are you running any sort of system time update utility? It's my understanding that windows XP has a service that does this by default. |

MP I posted a little while ago (one or two weeks probably) and the only users who reply'd told me this isnt a problem anywhere ever.. It's a timesync issue, if your running windows XP then you need to make sure that it's NOT trying to sync the time every night (it does it by default).. If your NOT changing the time on your macheen then you have the bug (that the users have told me doesnt happen) |

Also, it doesn't just happen in XP. You can accidently download a program call "Precision Time", and "Precision Date" for other versions of windows. These programs do the same thing XP has built into it. But beware, you can download the software for XP accidently too, so even if you have the auto time update turned off in XP, check the control panel under add/remove programs to make sure you don't have those programs installed as well... |

OutLaw or anyone.... I have turned off Time sync. I also checked in the controll panel for "Percision Time & Percision Date". I din't find thoughs. However I still get players that complain about not getting messages in a game. all of a sudden the wont be able to get ss or fed messages or game messages in the game.. is there any other thing that I can check. Server is running under XP thanks as far as I know though it only happens in one game. |

Accually sounds like his CN7 is set to YES to me.. Some scripts automatically turn this setting off, and do not turn it back on when the script has completed.. I've also noticed screen pauses can affect this. |

All else fails you can try rebanging the game if its been running for a while, it may be corrupted. |

Grazhoppa it was said 2 times that the cn settings are correct. cn7 is a cn setting. And Shorty this game has been banged 4 times. It happenes every time. I have had the problem one time, but other people get it alot. Not sure what the deal is. It does seem like it just happenes in the StarWars game only. I have not had anyone complain in the Gangsters or Moon Patrol game I was in. Is there a game setting that could cause it. Some more info about the game is it is MBBS. There are no aliens. |

Its not YOUR time thats messing it up, its the PLAYERS. Have them make sure their clocks aren't being re-adjusted every night, and it will all be good. |

Ok so is it if my time and the servers time are the same or is it if my time and my corp mates time are the same. I would guess my time and the server time. Since the server is actually sending the messages. But what gets me is many of us are in different time zones and it still works. |

The time problem is with the server. The game keeps time for each game session independently of the system clock. When a new game session is started, it is stamped with the time that the system clock currently has. However, if the system clock has not kept exact time with the in game clock, the game session for two different players can each think it's a different time. This leads to the sorts of problems being described. It has been known to happen without any sort of time sync program running, but the last I knew, we weren't sure why. Could you please list your full server specs? |

I've had problems with time on my system that was related to the motherboard's back-up battery running down. Perhaps MP's computer just needs a new battery for the motherboard? galaxi |

Another thing to check for is viruses. I had a friend who got infected with over 20 viruses, and one of them changed his clock back to the year 2000 so other viruses couldn't kill themsleves any more and kept trying to infect other systems. All email, etc from his system was dated back to the year 2000. I imagine that could cause problems with synching up with a server that uses time stamps, one player in the year 2000 and the other in 2003. Also as Galaxi stated, low CMOS batteries can cause clocks to run slow. |

Harley If you want I can let you on the server if you think you can fix it.. LOL. But when you say full server specs, I am unsure what you are talking about. As of for the computer itself Amd XP processor I have 2.4 gig of ram 260 gig Harddrive. Running XP. Let me know if there is anything else that you can use to help me donote the trouble. |
