I am running a local game to test things and I noticed that a script to set (9) Abort display on keys to all keys isn't working right in the local game. When I do it in the online game I play in it aborts the planet info and sector info displays and such like it is supposed to. But when I run it in the local game, no matter if it is set to abort on space or all keys, it still shows all the informational displays. Anyone ever seen this before? Is it a setting that needs to be changed in the local game t-edit or what? Thanks for any help you can give on this problem.

I've never seen this happen. Display aborts just fine locally for me with the stock setup. Are you sure you're sending the next characters fast enough to actually abort display?

I would say that if it running good in the remote end, and screwy in the local end, it wouldn't be a problem, unless you will have people playing locally...

Thanks Harley and Outlaw. It's running ok remote and like you said outlaw, since it's a test server it isn't too big a deal, just something odd and I would like to know what causes it. The characters are sending very fast locally Harley, so I don't think that would be the problem. It's a gold mod game locally, using the same settings as the remote game I play in, and it works just fine in the remote game.

Your welcome Steve. Do you have a TWGS server going up, or just using a Door version of the game?

Are you using a macro/burst or trying to type the characters by hand? I'm guessing it's something you're doing wrong, since I've never heard of it before.

I have the TWGS server running locally, don't have it running public games at the moment Outlaw. It's in a script Harley, waits for trigger text from the game and then sends the character or group of characters when it gets the trigger text it was waiting for. What makes me think it isn't the script is that it would give me the same problem on the game I play in online as it does in the local game if it was the script. That was my thinking, but I know a lot of you have been running games a lot longer than I have. :)

I am still getting this problem in local, and getting it this time when I type the characters manually. When I land on a planet, it displays all the planet info, even though abort display is set to all keys. Still shows the entire planet display, instead of just going straight to the planet prompt without showing any of the planet info. This is driving me crazy. Any ideas out there?

well my one and only idea (and im not sure it even matters) but i have noticed that if you run certain scripts with cn(2) (animation) on, it will not skip certain info things, like landing on terra it will still give out information even if you want it to be skipped. so i guess my only suggestion is maybe check that. and if that doesnt help, check and re-check all your settings, re-look over the script, and ask a script guru nicely to look over it, maybe it is the script. other than that, i have no idea, good luck

You are actually pressing another key after L, right? If so, it might be like slim suggested. Want to paste your entire cn settings here? Are you running ansi off by any chance? With ansi off, display won't abort.

Can you give us an example line of what the script is sending.. Or possibly the example macro that your using.

ie

"L999*c" or "L999^Mc" ect

keep in mind that "Abort on all keys" means that it aboards when any key is pressed after the instruction.. so hitting L by itself will not abort anything, also a slight pause between commands will stop them from aborting usually (this is cause the data is fragmented into seperate packets and process'd seperatly)..

so the line that ur sending will be really helpful

Regards
DW

Just a thought. Make sure you actually have CN9 set to ALL KEYS.

The above is a capture from the local game. When I land on a planet in an online game, the planet display is aborted, you go directly to the planet prompt

Just a guess, while your in an actual game you are most likely sending at least one more charactar after sending the L to land on the planet possibly the C for citadel or one of the commands to take or leave product or colos or fighters. This second command is what aborts display, if all you hit is L and land or even L (planet number) enter, if you dont hit another key after that then there is nothing sent to abort the display.
Try this, create a macro to land on your planet similar to this, L (planet number) enter, or if you dont need the planet number it should be just L. You will notice this displays your planet info and doesnt abort because no other key is entered after you land.
Now if you create a macro to land and enter citadel similar to this, L (planet number) enter C, or if you dont need the planet number it should be just L C. You will notice that this doesnt display your planet info because you entered the C after the land command so the C aborted your planet display. Hope this helps.
