IP/Router problem

 I have recently set up a game on my spare computer...The question I have is I am running a cable modem through a router...Now when I re-boot my server the IP address changes...I have figured out a way to make it work by having my other computer connected to the net while I reboot the server and it keeps the IP address the same, but if I go into the router setup and change it to Static IP, nothing seems to want to work anymore...The server or the other computers...Anyone have a solution to this...Like I said I have a half Butt solution, but would like to set it up right...

Entropy If you can't get a dedicated IP number from your ISP , you can op for a DYN redirect server to give your server a name and address , your server computer will run an update program every 15 mins or every time you loose connection. That way every time your server goes down your players can locate you. May I suggest [url="www.no-ip.org"]www.no-ip.org[/url].. they seem to be fast and reliable.
