In my travels around multiple TWGS galaxies I've noticed that very few edits have ANSI/ASCII graphics for them to most this is not a big deal. But I for one have a love for the old days of ANSI/ASCII art and would love for some of the ship/planet edits out there to have nice ANSI and ASCII Graphics attached to them. I'm offering my services as an old days ANSI artist thats also in love with the game to create graphics for any game edit out there that needs them. I can work off of ship discriptions fairly well. I have a lib of StarTrek Ships from my Alpha Quadrant edits (telnet://twgs.exiled.org) posted at http://www.exiled.org/twgs as a base its in need of updating as i've made quite a few changes. I also run a Borg server that has a lot of Borg Ships on it (telnet://borg.exiled.org). I'm working on putting up a copy of the reverends REV-STOCK edit and have put together both ANSI and ASCII graphics for it. If anyone is intrested in getting a copy of these just let me know. If anyone else out there does ANSI/ASCII art and has put together any ships for Tradewars I'd love to do some trading of ideas. Is there any demand from sysops for custom graphics?

Pink,
I have visted your site and love all the work you put into all those ships! Is there a way that I could get the ANSI files? I'd like to create a game using the ships. If I can I'd like to put your artowrk to good use. Let me know.

I use to use THEDRAW to creat all my ANSI graphics for our old BBS. It has been to many years since I've touched ANSI Graphics. What is used these days to create ANSI graphics?

I would also like to use your ansi screens too. And if you would like. I could also like ansi screen for ship in various games I have.

I'd like to know what everyone is finding best for ansi editing these days. I used TheDraw previously and have not given it a second thought in use. It did the job right. heh but if theres a better editor out there, perhaps more suited for windows - let us know. Thanks.

Well, I've spent about two hours searching for something better than THEDRAW to day and found nothing.

It takes me back to a better time messing around in THEDRAW again! :)

Man I forgot how much stuff that little program actually did!

I use thedraw for all my ansi editing. So far it is the best I have used. Too bad they don't make a windows version of it. :)

As long as we are on the subject of the ansi and text files for ships and planets, I am having trouble getting some to show up in the game. Like the Ferrengi Scorpion, the text and ansi files are there but the only thing that shows up is the text in the library, no ansi pic. Also the Dreadnought doesnt show up at all and the files are there. I cant get the description for the Ferrengi to show up either and this should be a no brainer on that one I would think. I guess my question is how do I get the right files to show up for alien, ship, and planet descriptions and ansi pics in the library. Thanks for any help. I did check under the ship, planet, and alien gold editors and made sure the file names were in there for these also.

Just a guess, but make sure the ship is active. I have had no problems. I just make sure that all my ans and txt files are in the ANSI directory and they have worked. I do all of this under Gold. So far so good.

Sorry have not had a chance to check back in for awhile been busy with work and what not. right now I don't want to give out the Trek ansi's i've been working on. But will in the future. I want to take a crack at the alien AI when its available first. I would however be more than willing to help create graphics for people that already have finished or partly finished game edits. I.E. rev's REV-STOCK edit, the USO game are the only two i've worked on so far.

And for everyone asking about ANSi Editors TheDraw is still one of the best tools around. There are a few others out there that are better in some ways and worse in some ways.. LaughingDog, AcidEdit. But when it comes right down to it TheDraw is the simplist to use and learn. Sometimes I find myself in DOS Edit just as much as thedraw so its a toss up. -;) I would love to trade Raw Ansi graphics files with anyone out there that has done ansi work. Or at least take a look at them if anyone has them in game.
