Ok, now that I got my TWGS server up and running perfectly, and everything is going great and I'm finally getting some good players, I would like to go from Win98 to Windows 2000 Server. I'm probably going to have to blow away my partition and start fresh. My question here is, how easy is it to pack up my 8 game TWGS server and unpack it on a W2K Server? What kind of disruption is this going to cause for my players? Any input or thoughts or stories of past experiances would be very greatly appreciated.

---telnet to tribeam.kicks-ass.net and give my computer something to do!

from what ive seen when moving a game you can export the game (take a picture of it (players and all)) save it via hard storage. Install Twgs on the new system, then Import. If you unsure of it do a test run with another computer to see how it will work for youself.
If you do this in mass you could possable have no interuption of your players (just tell them the server is going to be down for a day while you upgrade).

i would suggest you simply add your twgs folder to a winzip archive and save it to a writable cd, backup tape or zipdisk, along with anything else from your current installation that you want to save. after you have windows 2000 up and running, download the twgs software and install it, then simply unzip the backup over it. you will still need to go in and add the proper games in the server configuration menu as well as adjust any server properties since all these settings are stored in the windows registry.

this is probably the best way of insuring that you don't lose anything from your existing installation.

Sounds to me like someone could use Norton Ghost. Also you dont have to blow away your partition. You could also use a program called partition magic and partition part of your drive over to 2000 server, but I would suggest just blowing your drive away and starting new with 2000. One good thing about Norton Ghost is that if the upgrade does not work, you could just install the immage of 98 back without any problems.
