Any new ETA on the .56 release? Eagerly awaiting it... but understand that you all are putting it through a lot of testing, and it's appreciated. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not demanding it... just a gentle request for updated information. Thanks! Click Here for your Tagline! |

Or maybe just a small program to fix the port problem in games with the new bubble option ? Pretty Please. Rand Al Thor, The Dragon Reborn Let the Dragon ride the winds of time... |

But, I don't think it will be. It seems that J.P. needs more time to work on it. The WABBIT ICQ# 12988803 http://www.shadowworldgame.com |

We were originally hoping to get it out towards the end of June. After that the target date was June 12th or so, to allow for some public testing prior to the start of BOTE. Unfortunately, it didn't make that release either. It's still on the workbench, so to speak. Lisa M. Cutler aka Rave EIS Product Support |

Great, Thanks for the info, Rave. Keep us updated the best you can, I think we all understand when a release date isn't met, honestly - QC takes a long time and none of us want something that's worse than the previous version. It IS nice to know the progress, even vague progress reports like "It's on the workbench". Click Here for your Tagline! |

It IS nice to know the progress, even vague progress reports like "It's on the workbench". In .56 so far, and this is just off the top of my head, so don't freak out if I miss any important bugs... 1) Massive revamping of Gold Alien behaviors. They're smarter, tougher, and far harder to "take advantage of" early in the game for ships and credits. Their behavior in the presence of interdictor generators, both planets and ships, has been drastically altered... we'll live it up to the players and sysops to determine the changes made here unless they are put into the release notes. (In the event these changes aren't going to be put in the notes, I'll not spoil the surprises.) 2) Time carryover past midnight plus free time if a player is online at midnight has been finally resolved. 3) Gold Alien AI: This will not be activated in .56. Maybe in .57 or .58, but the Alien AI system is being completely rewritten from scratch. The previous system had been in place since the v3 door version and was completely incompatible with TWGS considering how much the game has changed since the door version was released under Martech Software. 4) Some of the global routines have to be rewritten or heavily modified in some areas of the game to prevent serious bug use. This will probably be an ongoing fix... fixing specific sections at a time for each release. Don't hold me to this, this was one of the possibilities as of a month ago and I've been out of the loop quite a bit the last couple weeks. 5) I'm sure there are about two dozen other bugs here and there but my mind is drawing a blank at the moment. Sorry! Lisa M. Cutler aka Rave EIS Product Support |
