This is so confusing! I just want like 1000 figs for start day and like 50k for max day, but these values dont make any sense! can anyone clarify this for me?

The spawning profile things can be kind of a mess, but if all you want is 1k on the first day and 50k on the max day, increasing linearly, and max day is 50 days, pick Linear 2 and make A = 1000, B = 0, and C = 1000. That'll put 1000 fighters on day one and 1000-51000 fighters on day 50. All the formulas have random factors attached to them so it's impossible to avoid that wide range on day 50, unfortunately. Maybe with the new alien stuff coming JP will decide to activate the custom formula option and allow for less randomness.

Depends on the sorts of effects you want.

Linear 1 will *always* result in a random value between zero and something, with power increasing on a linear curve with age in days.

Linear 2 allows for something other than zero as the minimum (due to the +C outside the random function), but is otherwise similar to Linear 1.

Linear 3 is a LOT like Linear 2, but only randomizes the age instead of the entire front portion of the equation, so you always end up with a random value that's some multiple of A, plus C.

Linear 4 is unique in that it doesn't utilize game age at all, but instead uses the amount of experience that particular alien spawned with. Linear 4 obviously can't be used for experience itself (or else all aliens will have zero XP), but if you want aliens to have some other stat scaled in some way with their experience, this is the one to use. Will always result in zero to some value, however.

Linear 5 can result in some of the highest minimum values, since minimum will be A*C (or as high as about 100 million *minimum*) but otherwise can't do much of anything the other formulas can't also do.

Static should be self-explanatory.

As you can see, for the most part, the formulas are all redundant and superfluous, at least as far as my experimentation has gone. There's little you can't do with any one of them. 1, 2, 3, and 5, anyway, are variations on the same theme with minimal differences as outlined above.

If you give me a general idea of what you want to do, I can try to point you in the right direction, but what formula to pick isn't really cut and dry. Maybe I'm missing some grand scheme to the formulas that makes more sense, but this is the best I could tell from setting up a few races.
