Hi if anyone can help me here it would be appreciated. Comp info: Windows XP Pro Sp2 with NIS 2005. (Windows Firewall disabled) Plus I have the server comp directly connected to the shaw modem (ie: directly connected to the internet) I have a few problems with running my own server here. I just purchased TWGS/Gold and installed the server and entered the codes. People can connect but it says unregistered version for some reason. Also I have had problems with people connecting for the way my comp is setup. I have had to get peoples ip before they can log in other wise my comp refuses there connection. I was juat thinking of uninstalling NIS 2005 and using windows firewall because I think I had a little more success with it. I was reading something on ICS and port issues as well but Im confused and this is all new to me so if anyone can help me here that would be sweet. Thanks Shaka |

I use those exact same programs and I have my firewall enabled, I do not have any problems with my TWGS registration status. For you're reg it will display either green letters in the middle of the window on the TWGS register panel that "TWGS is registered" or orange/red letters that "TWGS is not registered", (for you're codes it is best to copy and past them directly from you're e-mail into the correct fields, also make sure you're Registration Key and BBS name are exactly that same as you first requested during you're registration, the SysOp name can be whatever/whoever you want.) Also there are two seperate screens that need to be filled out, (the second menu is in the same area, though is kind of hidden; it can be found right under the first two reg fields, just click on the tab titled "Enter TW2002/Gold Codes" and paste in you're codes.) Right after you end them and click on OK, it should change to the green registered status, if it does not then you're codes are not correct. If you are positive they are correct, you might want to double check with JP to determine what the problem could possibly be. For you're IP logon problems it is most likely do to either from setting up a closed game, (this setting can be found in the SysOp's General Editor Two) or from checking the wrong 'Local only' boxes in the config area (check in the config menu's 'IP Lists' tab for the Game Connections sub-menu, it should state "ANY IP Address" in the center of this window; you might want to also make sure the players trying to connect are not listed under the 'Bannded IPs' sub-menu and also check the 'Admin Connections' sub-menu if you are using your admin port for your connections. Also make sure you're game(s) are not checked to be 'Inactive' (found in the Games tab of the config menu.) Finally make sure that you do not have 'Disable Logins' box checked, (this can be found in the center area of the top part of your'e main server window.) This is all I can think of, besides making sure you have the appropriate number of nodes listed under the 'Settings' tab and you have the 'Server' Port settings of the config menu set correctly, i.e. Telnet if you are using Telnet, Auto detect the correct IP address, the 'Local' box is left unchecked, etc. Also check to make sure you're inactivity/Timeout is set higher then a few minutes in 'Settings' tab, otherwise it might drop the user if the connection is lagging. Hope you get you're server up and running without any more delays! [:)] |

Hello, Yes this problem is still with us, lol I am Shaka's CoSysOp and it seems that we can get the server running as long as it isnt being ran through the router. We want it to be able to get it to run through the router. Somehow, we think that we need some form of IP forwarding, that is, the external IP giving communication to the actual personal IP etc. I, and we are VERY confused here, and need help. And ICS, it seems that it doesnt have a sharing tab (This was from Harley and Vulcan's posts) So we need help still. LOL HELP! Void Where Prohibited |

You'll need to set up port forwarding for your router to pass along packets from port 23 (or 2002 or whatever port you've set up access to TWGS on) to the internal IP of the TWGS server. Its a little different to do with each router, but I'm willing to give you a hand if you need it. My ICQ is 211279673, feel free to drop me a message if you can't get it working. |
