Ive been slowly customizing a game. I went in today to work on some ships in TWGS editor. I clicked on Command center no problem. Everything was fine till I clicked on the editor and my screen looked like this
all the fonts are screwed up. Its the same if I try to play from the command center. I have not changed any settings for this nor would I know where to if i wanted to (or if its possible) anyone ever have this error or would know what causes it or most of all how to fix it. I can't work if I can't read it. |

I remember that thread, a work around is to telnet into your server and make adjustments that way. I seem to remember that it has something to do with a font file being corrupt though. Harley said he had fixed it for himself, but not easily. Somebody had a simpler fix, but I can't for the life of me remember who that was. Kimsanee |

Do a search in the forums for fonts. Basically, one of your font files has been replaced. It's a system thing not a TWGS thing. |

Xiahou, I ran into the same problem and Harley suggested I go into the TWGS Server via Telnet (calls for either telnet or rlogin). When I did, I found I could in fact read everything on the screen so I copied and pasted all the menus to my windows notepad then printed it out. Now I have everything I need at my fingertips. |

I looked through the fonts ( I checked the older thread about this) and none of them have been modified in 2005 and I have been working on my game in 2005. I am stuck I really don't want to have to telnet work around its much quicker and easier to just use the command center as is. Wonder why a file would replace a font? Help guys. |

Xiahou, if you'd send me an e-mail to the hotmail address listed in my signature, I will gladly send you a copy of the file I made. That way you won't be fumbling in the dark or trying to rely on memory to make any changes you might want to make. |

Thanks Wabbit, I will try this myself. Would be whole lot easier than to keep referring to the file I made and printed out. |

I read through that walk through. It says TW will work once I delete the fonts. Then it says how to put good ones back in. Why? its says for ms dos apps. I haven't used those in years? do i need to do this step? Or should I just leave them deleted and work on TW. Oh yea I did the fix part and my text is fine now. So THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! still wonder if I should or need to reinstall fonts? |

So THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! still wonder if I should or need to reinstall fonts? First of all, TW2002 at it's core, is still a DOS app. This does not pertain to TWGS. So even though the TW2002 utilities seem to work properly. They still rely on the MS-DOS app default fonts. Just like any other DOS app. Second, most telnet applications use the MS-DOS app default fonts. |
