I have a question because I can't find an option for it in any of the editors that come with TW... can I change the amount of xp someone is given for finding an "unused" port? I just banged the game yesterday, but 1xp for finding a new port really blows. I know I've played games where you get 50xp, but how do I change that? |

well, personally, unless i am red, i dont WANT 50xp, i want zero. but to age the game, go into tedit, goto option G, then goto option P and enter.. i dunno, 100 days old? that should get you 50xp per port (which is a BAD idea, no blue wants that) and if its not exactly 50xp yet, age it to 200 days and it will be. if you have aliens in the game (which is also bad) aging them this many days is even worse than 50xp everytime u port. the aliens (if aggressive) will wreak havoc upon the little newbs who start this game. i am guessing that you dont play much twars or if you do, not at a hugely competitive level. if you dont understand why 50xp at every port is not exactly a good thing, feel free to shoot me an icq (207-107-486) and ill be more than happy to answer any questions you have. if you dont have icq, and you are a sysop or regular twars player, i suggest you get it Slim |

I don't know, a game where every port gives you 50 exp is a nice twist every now and then. You can get reds going really quickly |

If Slim's post was a little long, I'll try to answer the question more directly. The age of the game determines the exp per port. An "never visited" port becomes worth more and more experience as the game ages. Jhereg |

true enough, i kinda like games where you get 50xp each port just because it makes it harder for blues to sit and hide in fedspace all day. i just said what i said because i think he wants 50xp because he thinks xp is important in the game (i remember back in the day, i wanted tons of xp too, so i could just have a #1 next to my name, but having a ship by my name and #SD# by everyone else's name is more important, heh) Slim |

Its a minor nuisance for blues early in the game and worth it, to get the reds hit the ground running, as Harley posted. Blues can reduce their exp by 5/9 each day at the cost of a few turns and approx 50K credits. quote:Originally posted by Slim Shady true enough, i kinda like games where you get 50xp each port just because it makes it harder for blues to sit and hide in fedspace all day. i just said what i said because i think he wants 50xp because he thinks xp is important in the game (i remember back in the day, i wanted tons of xp too, so i could just have a #1 next to my name, but having a ship by my name and #SD# by everyone else's name is more important, heh) Slim |

I know this has nothing to do with what we are talking about, but I believe that depending on how upgraded a port is, when a red is caught he/she should encore damage to his ship while escaping that port. Lolz, Of course I never play red so that would be a advantage for me. -p |
