I can not get anyone to log onto my twgs server and the only thing I can think is wrong is my router. I've had Elite help me with this and told me to post here hoping someone might have had the same problem before.

I have a D-link router, and the twgs comes up with an ip of 192.168.0.101 on auto, but like I said no one can connect to it. If I take the router off and hook it up to the cable modem direct it has no problems picking up my regular ip addy and allowing people to log on.

Can anyone give me any assistance please?

ICQ= 307815463

Thanks

First off, I take it your network runs on the IP scheme 192.168.0.X right? If not, then the TWGS server is being assigned an IP address in which your router (and computers on your network) cannot see. And if you can't see it, then people coming in from the outside cannot see it either. 192.168.0.X is a loop back IP scheme, meaning it is not accessible from the internet unless the router properly forwards requests to it. So you need to go into the D-Link router setup and make sure to forward TWGS port requests to the TWGS server's IP address. It could be that when people are trying to connect to your server, they are hitting the router like they should but the router does not know where they want to go from there. You need to tell the router any requests on the port the TWGS server uses are to be directed to the TWGS server. I'm not sure what port the TWGS server runs on, because I've never set it up before. But if someone else here knows, then nothing should stand in your way of setting it up in the router setup page. See ya! :)

ok... it does have the 192.68.0 scheme I guess because my laptop has the same IP addy with a .102 at the end. I think I understand what you are saying..when they are trying to connect to port 23, the router has to direct it to the twgs.org. I just got to figure out how to make the router do that. [:D]

i'll mess around with the set up and see if I can figure it out..and hope someone else posts something too to help me along. Thanks Seg

find port forwarding in your router and specify a range of 23 to 23 and assign the last octet of 102 (or whatever the last octet of your twgs' IP is) to that range

Hey guys,

I know this is a subject that has been utterly beaten to death and for that I apologize. But I have a linksys RP114 Router. I run Comcast Cable Internet through it and am now trying to link a tradewars game to it. I have gone into my router and have done EVERYTHING everyone one this board has said. I spent about 2 hours last night trying to get to connect to it from an outside source. I only have the demo of the server thus far, I wanted to make sure I could get people to connect to it before I purchased my copy.

So I've forwarded my port 23 to the proper internal IP address and still, whenever someone outside tries to log into it they either get "Connecting... IP address..." or when I try it, it wants me to log into my router. Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Thanks all.

I figured it out. Don't know what I did. Yesterday it didn't work. Had a friend test it out and it worked fine. And placed my order for the full package.
