I have a player that can't seem to connect to my server, He had no problems before, but now he runs on cable with a router. Could either the router or the cable be the issue? He is in a situation where he can't get direct assess to the router's setup, the broadband connection is for the whole building, is there anything I can do to help?

Just a guess the port he is trying to telnet thru may be blocked, for security.

I would concurrrr doctor def. sounds like a blocked port. can the player connect to any other server? try connecting to one that runs on port 2002 maybe and see what happens.

A firewall has the capability of blocking outgoing ports as well as incoming ports. And a good firewall is configured only to allow specific ports out, like 80/443 for http/s and 21 for ftp. The firewall admin probably isn't allowing port 23 out, and if that is the case, they won't be allowing port 2002 either. If you have a router that is capable of port translation, you can translate incoming port 80 to 23, and forward it to the TWGS, as well as incoming port 23. Then the user will need to connect to your address like this:
telnet yourURL.com 80

Needless to say, this will only work if you aren't already forwarding port 80 to your webserver. If so, you might try ports 21, 110, or 443.
