While my server is running, sometimes when I attempt to go to the command center or into the editor I get the following pile on messages, "parameter incorrect" "drawing to canvas not allowed" Recently, though when I got that message I attempted to shut down server and got this: "Win32 error code 87: The parameter is incorrect" I then cleared the window and shut down the server after getting "The parameter is incorrect" 3 times more. When I attempted to reload the server I got "Access violation of address BFF7B997 in module "kernel32.dll" read of address 00008457" Then I cleared that error window and got "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor." Each subsequent time I try to load the server I get the access violation at BFFB997 in kernel32.dll" with different read addresses, such as 00008457 00003907 00002927 This last time I got a new error window "Access violation at address 0050230A in module 'TWGS.EXE' read address FFFFFFFF." does anyone know what's going on? |

The error can occur if too many applications are currently running, or the system is low on resources. This is an OS error you will need to close some programs (AV's, Popup killers, Spyware, ext), upgrade system or OS |

I only had 5 applications running besides the twgs I get "low on resources" warnings all the time, but I have a 10 gig hard drive and 256 megs of ram. I check my system resources when I get this message and 60 percent or better is still free! Either I have a ram conflict, or it is time for the OS change I've been dreading. I guess it's off to ebay to get one of those 10 dollar OS disks Draconis was talking about. SGO <------(cheap ba*****) I have a gateway 333mhz, you know my ram and my hardrive space, what OS do your recommend oh great one? |

I have had the same error messages when multiple swath/twx are open and then open TWGS. I run windows 98 se, it is as Rick said OS conflict. I hope to upgrade to win2k many others have told me it is much more stable. |

I would suggest you upgrade the system, you can triple your system for under $200, then I would put XP pro on it |

Are you referring to upgrading the CPU master chip? I'm sceered to mess with that, it IS after all a gateway |

I'm sceered to mess with that, it IS after all a gateway I am saying get rid of the system all together, if you have a kid give it to them if not yank the hardrive out hook it up as a secondary storage and savage the memory and then put it next to the trash barrels on pickup day. Just a quick look on ebay and you have stuff like: Cheap: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 65770&rd=1 For a little more: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 65680&rd=1 and for a little more: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 52434&rd=1 I am not recommending any of this systems, just an example of a way to upgrade your system without spending a ton of cash, ebay is only one place there are even better deals out there if you look... but any of these systems would be a vast improvement over what you have, even if you wanted to just install 98se back on whatever. a comment on strider's post I think 2k Pro is also an excellent OS but more for a business setup, XP Pro is more suited for a "hobby" system as it handles multimedia and gaming and hardware upgrades better |

I don't think that was me saying that, but sure, sounds like a good idea. Also on the system you are running, you probably need to upgrade it also. You may have a large amount of RAM, but it is extremely slow RAM, and the CPU is system bus are also very slow. I would recommend checking pricewatch for a new system, or ebay for a used. Gypsy had some good links there. Jhereg |

When it comes to stability, I defenitely recommend Win 2k Pro over XP. I have yet to have a system crash due to anything but a program error or a CPU error... Never anything to do with Windows itself. |
