Figure I would start a seperate thread so not to clutter the other. I would be interested in hearing what new features JP sees for the v4 software. While it is great of us to suggest things, and even debate them with each other, if JP plans to go in a different direction completely than many of us think of TW as, it just waste our time to discuss it.

Could we get some ideas of what he would like to see phased out, and what he would like to see implemented? I would be very interested in what JP has in mind. While I don't have my TWGS server open to the public, I am still interested in what JP plans to do with v4.

At this time we are not releasing specific details about what changes are be made in v4, we are going to have closed testing to try and nail down what is and isn’t going to make it into the game from a game play stand point. And we wouldn’t want to say that a certain change or feature is going to be in the game and then it doesn’t make it. Once testing has begun and we have a better grasp on what the true game play effects are of those changes and features that are being made a more detailed list will be available. If you would like to be apart of the v4 ALPHA test team, keep an eye on the forums in the near future as details about how to become a member will be posted.

Some of the areas that are being worked on in v4 include:

EXP / ALIGN System
Combat system
Communications
Planets specs and abilities
Extern
Game Speed Balance

Hey Rick, can you possibly include the AI for the aliens, right now they are dumber than a bag of hammers and have little options for tweaking their behavior.

rick, i agree, would be not that good to release details now as it would just cause massive arguements that may or may not even be pointful as the changes are just thoughts as of yet. the things you listed are things that sound interesting to change i cant wait till it becomes public, i am getting excited, heh. also having a way for some people to help become a part of testing is cool too, hopefully its a stringent process to keep rifraff out, but not too hard to keep rifraff like me out, hehe. ya aliens are wack.. but correct me if i am wrong, is it not possible to write your own alien AI and implement it into the current TW? or do u need to know the TW source code N such?

The AI development kit has never been released. As it is, there is just one base alien AI.

Yes the current Alien AI is more like Alien AS, as in Artifical Stupidity. [:)]

Fig Trippers, trip over the same fig and retreat 40 times in a row. Seesh!

Then again maybe it really is AI, if they can clog up the player's mail file enough to prevent them from playing in the game, it is an AI DoS attack? [}:)]
