Hello this is River Rat Game Op of Alien Base and i just heard from gravedigr and yes no one is cheating and thank you Harley Nuss has just posted what i found out. My post came from a discussion between about 5-6 of us on that game and we had all been noticing the same things.

We figured if there was a way to cheat, people here would know and could advise us if something fishy was going on in the game.

Ver# 3.11.55 Gold running under Sockets.
The local display is ON at all times.
This game is registered to Alien Base.
It is just my personal policy, I don't play in any game where the Local display is on.

I wondered that... What does that local display mean? What does it show, what's it's purpose?

Local display I believe means that the sysop/gameop can watch the players without entering the game, see who is on the server and watch that person individually. Atleast that is my understanding. With the option to be an Observer now though I think the Local Display may becoming obsolete, but I don't know as I don't host any games. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe it's a hangover from BBS days of the game. As far as I can tell, it does nothing. You can spy on player nodes whether it's on or off.

Ya, it is really helpful to sysop/gamop. When checking to see if anyone is cheating. The observer can't see everything a player does. but with node spying we can. and yes local display on/off either way we can see what is going on.
