I think a lot of us are mystified by what the vision really is. There have been multiple references to "classic" play, more like HVS, and "scripts are killing the game".

There have been suggestions that additional delays may be added.

The very best players that play today are telling you that the game is pretty balanced, and we just want a few of the critical bugs fixed, rather than changes to game play.

The reply seems to be that there are countless masses who have a different opinion, and want game play changes to bring the game closer to what it used to be, whatever that is. But I don't see these people posting here or anywhere. Where are these people who want the game play to be changed?

The post made by didaskalos was innappropriate for this forum in it's tone and content. This forum is for level headed discussion, not sarcasm and attacks. There are several other posts that I think are borderline, and I would like to take this time to remind everyone that this is not the smack talk forum, and being sarcastic or trying to cut down the other party does not score you points.

Pretty much the debate is closed, the fixes that are going in are going in, and a final revision will be made. Your options now are play it or don't, upgrade or don't.

I'm just curious who ever said i was a partner of anything or that I decided what happens with Trade Wars? Trade Wars isn;t a partnership and only 1 person decides what happens to it. I'm more curious as to what this has to do with TWGS SysOps / GameOps...

My personal opinion on what is wrong with Trade Wars today is the me me me attitude of everyone. Everyone wants JP to jump and conform to their personal wants and needs for the game. Last I checked this was still his game and his development and therefore his decision. There is no reason for JP to have to defend himself or his decisions on the game to the fairly small handfull that have responded here. His customer base spans more than just a dozen people. How about everyone leave the bashing, flames, tempers, and attitude problems out of it and have a civil dialogue on the game, put in your suggestions, ideas, or even disagreements with changes but dont burn JP's house down because he made a controversial decision with the game. I remind everyone, he doesnt know the effect of his changes until the players tell him they like them or dislike them. Give the man a break, let him know your concerns or opinions and if the majority likes a change he may keep it, if the majority doesnt then he may change it, its still his decision.

I apologize for being slightly off topic here.

Most of us don't post here, or anywhere, becuase we are tired of being called idiots. We have all seen what happens when someone expresses an opinion that the "Elite" players don't agree with. So instead, they run private games, and don't bother with these fourms.

On a second note: I really don't think you (a generic term) are encouraging JP to spend hours sweating over code, by jumping all over him.

Thank you John, for your effort and time. (Somebody had to say it.)

*** I COPIED THIS FROM THE BETA FORUM SINCE IT HAS A WIDER APPEAL ***

i have a proposal that may appeal to a lot of people. there is a lot of talk about the possibility of restricting communication reception at certain prompts in the game. so, for example, on a port you might not "see" fig hits or subspace conversation. these kinds of changes drastically change how the game is played, and i understand the concerns.

my proposal is this: for changes as drastic as this, why not make them TEDIT options? Restrict Coms Y/N. there is a lot of precedent for this as seen in many recent releases. just look at the TEDIT "I" screen:

<6> Fighter Lock Decay : 1440 Min
<7> Death Delay : Yes
<8> Multiple Photon Fire : Yes
<9> Show Who's Online : Yes
<0> FedSpace Photons : No
<[> Minimum Login Time : 10 Min

all of those changes to the game were made optional to sysops. is that a reasonable proposal?

A very good idea. The problem, I see is the fact that the current selections in t-edit are already extensive. Adding that many more would add yet another layer of confusion for the non "elite" player to deal with.

Prinz, those options listed currently exist in TEdit. Rev only mentioned adding one selection, Retrict Comms Y/N.

I understand that, but my point was: Don't the "unwashed masses" of the tradewars community have enough options to deal with?

I count 46 options, give or take, that directly effect gameplay. Not to mention the hardware pricing. 44 for gold ships 46 if you count class and name. 50 for gold planet types, and 60 for a gold alien.

Yikes, I never actualy counted it all before.

Who is calling you an idiot?..
and dont quote anything from the "Smack" section..

There is only one person I know who calles players Idiots (but he can close the topic so I'll not bring that up)..

I think it's sad that Me, CK, Rev, Didaskalos and others have all been told about the way that we call people Idiots.. I think maybee it's time that I do start giving people the lable that the deserve (even in moderated forums)..

Jon how I have or haven't treated people in the past or now has no bearing on this topic, or on this forum. I understand completely your perception of me, because I have never liked or respected you and have treated you accordingly. Regardless of my dislike for you personally, this is still a place for productive debate and I am more then capable to put aside any feelings I have for you or anyone else to that end.

If it has no bearing on the topic then why did you bring up the way that people are treated?. I have never cared if you did like me or respect me (tho I know that you do admire me, shame you cant admit it however). I know you cant put your feelings aside as recent actions "outside" of the public view in the past day have shown.

However I dont feel like replying to you again as you usually just come up with some useless chatter ending with something that is in no way related to the topic that your replying to.. so please be kind enough not to reply to this as I dont want another useless subthread going..

Kind Regards
