Lately when I sign onto my game the WHO's Playing shows about 3-8 Civilians playing . .with no name. It appears like this. I have noted who is a recognized player

The logs dont show a new player was added

Any ideas what this is?

check your logs and see if they have the same IP or not, and if they are different IP's then you don't have any dupes, is it showing civilian as thr rank or name? they may have a space, or dot or other symbol before the rank.

What version of twgs?

TWGS version is 1.03

There is no trailing space before the civilian name.

Okay then look at the logs and see what ip addys logged in as civillian, also look at the main logs on the frontside where the are on the nodes and see if the same name is civilian too. and if they are all the same IP then someone is duping.

Okay I did some experimenting on my home server on the civilian thing, and had some interesting results, but before I give them here, I need to ask a question, is this a TWGS you are playing on?

Cause this is what I found out. the civilians you seen are players that got deleted while they were online. Until they quit the game they will show up as civilians on the server, and that is civilian as for their player name. So this leads me to believe a sysop had deleted players while still online in the game, and they haven't logged off or got killed off. Therefore someone was in Tedit during an active game. I did it multiple times on my home server and the same result came up. I created multiple players and connected them to the server and while they were connected and in game, I deleted them and they all came up as Civilian.

If anyother sysop wishes to test this and see if they get the same results, feel free, and let me know what the outcome was. Thanks.

There is another possibilty, There is a bug in TWGS where sometimes if a player gets disconnected they relog on and it still shows them in the game but they aren't i have seen where it looked like 3 people with same name and ip where logged into game but only one was.

true that is a possibility, I forgot about that one, sometimes it also doesn't show a player as himself, but withe unknown on the TWGS node window too. I have seen this as well, I thought I had the only fluke like this on that part, till I heard from someone else, that it happened to them as well. Thanks RR for making me remember that one.
