Good day to all;
I have a player that had informed me of a situation. They stated the following:
"The aliens have routinely launched attacks on me AFTER I've captured their ship. About the time corbomite would go off, they power up weapon systems."
This is the first time I've heard of this, and was curious if anyone else had experienced this. I'm trying to figure out if the attack came from the ship they captured, or another Alien warped into the same sector and attacked.
Any insight is appreciated.

Could be another alien warped into the sector or he just received the message after he sent his fighter wave in. How many times have you launched on an alien to cap it only to find that you blew it up because the alien was launching to? The main reason to hit with a single fighter is because the aliens can launch and your calculated attack will then have too many fighters. The alien ship becomes debris while you eat corbs.

I agree with that. I was hoping the player was not meaning the CAP ship attacked him. Could not see any reason why that happened. In any event, thanks for the reply.

What usually happens is this: when you press a,y, and then the fig amount, the alien will attack during that time. You will receive the message of the attack after your attack resolves, and instead of the alien having the 10K figs he started with, he will have a LOT less, depending on the odds.
That's why I just attack enough to kill their shields and then ping them with a single fig to cap them.

That makes sense. I've witnessed that before. I'll forward to them so they understand how it works and not think it's a bug...

I'm curious what game edit this happened in?

It was on my server, game B. Apparently the player captured an alien ship, but suddenly received messages he was being attacked. However, by the explanations given, it makes sense how he "thought" the ship attacked him after he captured it, when in actuality it was delayed messages from the Alien attack. I ran a test game just to see first hand in fact how it all fits together, and from Oso and Draven's explanation, it happened exactly as they mentioned.
