Okay I got my Gold Code registration - when you enable the Ferrengi as a race in Gold, do they no longer try to rob the players when they enter a sector? I.E. do the Gold races do nothing but fly around acting as targets?

Oh, you can edits the aliens to do pretty much whatever you want, there are many settings for them, best just to experiment with them and read the descriptions for each as you tinker with em to get a basic understanding of what each does and how one effects another etc. Most are self-explanatory and others are somewhat complex using defined formulas over a period of time. But in short you can make them mean, very mean, somewhat mean, nice, harmless, valuable, worthless, etc. you can design ships for them, their planet, names, ranks, etc.

Well yes, I've read the docs on the Ship and Alien editors, and have even designed ships and whatnot. However, I ran into a Ferrengi (and the nonpserver was running them at the time) and it completely ignored me. In non-gold, it should have tried to shake me down for cargo holds/money/whatever, shouldnt it? I didnt see any settings in the alien race editor that let you set this type of behavior, and from what I can see from my searching, the Advanced AI aliens development kit isnt coming out, nor is there some special Ferrengi Script that they run off of. From what I can see, they are simply a different group with different ships, but they dont have 'special' interactions with players anymore (like trying to rob them). Maybe I'm just missing something?

set the alien to aggressive, and it will either attack you or shake you down, and may leave you alone too, but with the new settings you can get them to do just about anything with the different settings, and get more from them in games to harass players if you have the settings right.

also if you set the grudge setting they will hunt you actively if one witnesses you attack another of its kind and it survives, and if you take their homeworld, they will actively hunt for you.

How do you set them to Aggressive? I dont see this option anywhere in the Gold Race Editor. I am using The DPMI TW2002 version 3.09.

It may be different than the twgs I use. I use 3.13 and is a full twgs.

but to get to it I go to the alien editor:the numbers on the right number 3 is the alien race editor. Then I go to: number 2 and set the settings there, the tab showing should say behaviors at the top of the screen.

I don't know if 3.09 has this option in it. but if it does then this is where you set the behaviors and the other tabs to other things to them to make them strong, good, evil and so on.

you can set them to unforgiving as well and other things to experiment with.

I hope this helps.

You're right - there's no behaviors section in 3.09. I guess that would be the problem.

If you want more control of the aliens then I would suggest that you get the newer setup. What licenses do you have?
you will need the TW2002gold and the TWGS licenses.

Don't forget about the Gold Tools, located at the very bottom of the downloads page. These are needed to operate the Gold functions.

Also these are the for the most current version but were made to assist in creating game edits, they may our not be helpful:
