This might have already been proposed and there's probably a better place to post this, but here goes:
I think alot of sysops would prefer to play in their own games (I know I do and have seen others profess the same.) I also think alot of players dislike that practice because they leave themselves open to cheating sysops -- which appears to have happened frequently in the past.
It would seem like a simple fix for JP to add a feature that posts announcements in the daily log when TEDIT has been accessed for any specific game. Instead of just a generic message, it would be great if it said something like:
--TEDIT launched remotely 7:13pm--
--TEDIT General Settings Page Viewed--
--TEDIT Terra Colonist Regen Rate changed from 1000 to 50000--
--TEDIT Closed 7:15pm--
or something like that. That way you could see those settings and be okay with it if the sysop changed it at a majority player request. But the following would tell you to move on:
--TEDIT launched locally 7:17pm--
--TEDIT Viewed Ships 1,4,6,7--
--TEDIT Viewed Planets 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8--
--TEDIT Closed 7:23pm--

I would love to play on my own server and feel comfortable. A feature that puts at least a minimal message in the log about a tedit access is almost a must for a next version.

That is a very good idea. I have never thought of that one before...

You can edit the logfile with Notepad and modify the lines in what ever way/shape/form that you want to. He would also have to modify the way that he stores log data..
There is another big reason for ops not to play, The BEST ping a player will get is about 40/50ms probably more like 50ms in game.. and the op will never even see that, so the op run scripts will just fly..

Well, barring the 1 person in the game with a better ping, I think this could be a good thing. I think more folks would buy twgs if they knew they could play on their own server without being looked down on, or scaring people away

What if the TWGS server is at work, and the GameOp plays from home to get the same ping as a player? Yeah I know, bad to play in their own game.

There are way to many games out there and servers for a player to even need to play in his own game

There will ALWAYS be accusations of cheating if a sysop plays on his own server. JUST DON'T DO IT. Get another sysop to host your edits if you want to play them.

There is another way to do this. Program a switch in the Game (someting like the tournament mode on/off). When on, there is no way anyone can use tedit-finish. least till the end off the Game.
There are allways strange things happening on a lot of servers, without the sysop cheating on his own or some friends behalf. But who knows for sure. A Tedit on /off switch would help a lot.
