I have my TWGS running on Windows 98. I have been having flakey problems with it so I'm just about on the virge of wiping my HD and reinstalling everything (saving the game data of course).

Every day I have been comming home to an error box on my server that says "TW2002 has caused an error in module TW2002 and will be terminated" or something very similer to this. I hit the close button and it goes away but TWGS remains running and the other people on other nodes are unaffected. I have noticed after watching this on the server in the evening, that this happens when ONE SPACIFIC user logs in and is playing... he/she plays for a while and the errorbox comes up, and the node they are on empties out in the same instant. I have not been able to spy on them and have it happen yet to see if they are causing it on purpose (ie. exployting a bug) or its just something the server is doing. [xx(]

Has anyone else ever had this problem or is it time for a wipe (I been dreading the wipe and putting it off). Could the player database be corrupted or something?

I had been thinking about moving TWGS over to a linux box but after reading a couple threads, I think I will stick with Windows.

If TWGS is the only thing causing an errormsg, maybe you should shut it down and reinstall it. If you're getting Error/Close messages with other programs, then you have a Windows problem which might or might not require a wipe/reinstall. You could try reinstalling Windows first, but that's dodgy, especially if you have specific hardware drivers (the video card for example). Be sure you're installing Windows 98 Second Edition, not the original version of Windows 98.

Thanks for the input. I have decided to go Windows2000 Server on a 1.7GHz P4. I hope that this will aleivate some of my difficulties. TW was the only program causing errors, and it only was happening when the one specififc player was online. I have taken the server down temproarily until I can get the necessary hardware and DSL crap all up and running smoothly.
